The Maison System, (Music Fundamentals For Beginners ages
4-12) was formulated to develop the reading of musical notes and rhythm in the home, classroom or private lesson. It may be used independently or as a supplement to any traditional method of beginning instrumental instruction. The games and activities in The Maison System Book I, Book II, and Book III are used in beginning private lessons as well as elementary theory classes at The Karen Maison Studio of Piano.
Parents who have used the books with their children at home on a regular basis have accelerated the music reading process so that I may concentrate on making music at the private lesson instead of reviewing the fundamentals. Students with coursework/experience in music performance and music appreciation
scored higher on the SAT: students in music performance scored 57 points
higher on the verbal and 41 points higher on the math, and students in
music appreciation scored 63 points higher on verbal and 44 points higher
on the math, than did students with no arts participation. |
